REAP Trade Delegation to China – 20-28 July 2026
The Rice Exporters Association of Pakistan (REAP) Trade Delegation, led by Mr. Muhammad Jawed Jillani, Senior Vice Chairman REAP, successfully completed a high-level trade promotion mission to China (Guangzhou, Shenzhen and Beijing), from 20–28 July 2026. The visit aimed to strengthen Pakistan–China rice trade, promote Pakistani rice in Chinese market and create new business opportunities through direct engagement with leading Chinese importers, trade organizations, and government institutions.

The delegation participated in a series of Business-to-Business (B2B) meetings, seminars, and institutional engagements with prominent Chinese organizations, including the Guangdong Chamber of Commerce of Importers & Exporters (GDCCIE), China Cooperative Trade Enterprises Association, Guangdong Agribusiness Group, Guangzhou International Cooperation Center, Shenzhen Grain Importers, Guangdong Provincial Association of Grain Sector, Dongguan Tailiang Rice Industry Limited Company, Guangzhou Food Industry Association, Europe–Guangdong–Hong Kong–Macao Chamber of Commerce, and the China National Association of Grain Sector (CNAGS). These meetings enabled Pakistani exporters to establish direct contacts with Chinese buyers, negotiate business opportunities, and strengthen long-term commercial partnerships.
During the visit, Mr. Rafique Suleman, Co-Leader of the Delegation, delivered detailed presentation highlighting Pakistan's rice industry, emphasizing the superior quality, diverse varieties, export capacity, and competitiveness of Pakistani rice. The delegation expressed confidence that, following the commencement of maize exports to China, Pakistan would be well-positioned to significantly expand its agricultural exports, particularly rice, to the Chinese market.
A major achievement of the visit was the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between REAP and the Shenzhen Government Procurement Association, reflecting a shared commitment to enhancing bilateral trade and creating greater market access for Pakistani rice in China.
The delegation also held important meetings with H.E. Sardar Muhammad, Consul General of Pakistan in Guangzhou, and H.E. Khalil Hashmi, Ambassador of Pakistan to China, who facilitated valuable engagements with Chinese stakeholders. During discussions in Guangzhou, it was mutually agreed to pursue a request for a one million metric ton import quota for Pakistani rice in China, which would contribute significantly towards improving Pakistan's trade balance. In Beijing, the Embassy of Pakistan organized a Pakistan Rice Seminar and facilitated extensive B2B meetings with leading Chinese rice companies, further promoting Pakistan's export potential.
Throughout the visit, REAP leadership reaffirmed its commitment to supplying premium-quality Pakistani rice that meets international standards and strengthening long-term cooperation with Chinese partners. As a symbol of friendship and goodwill, REAP commemorative shields and souvenirs were presented to Chinese counterparts, senior officials, and Representatives of the Embassy and Consulate of Pakistan.
The successful trade mission reinforced REAP's commitment to expanding Pakistan's rice exports, strengthening strategic partnerships with China, and creating sustainable opportunities for the country's rice industry in one of the world's largest consumer markets.
