08/11/2024: REAP Delegation led by Mr. Muhammad Jawed Jillani, Senior Vice Chairman REAP had meeting with Commissioner Karachi at his good office. The said meeting was also attended by Mr. Tahir Javid Cheema, Deputy Commissioner-Kemari, Mr. Mahmood Moulvi, Ex- Chairman REAP, MC Members of REAP, Mr. Rafique Suleman and Mr. Mahesh Kumar, Mr. Kamal Uddin Siddiqui Deputy Manager Marketing & Commercial Karachi Gateway Terminal Ltd (KGTL), and Office Bearers of various Transporters Associations. During the meeting following agenda points have been discussed in details. 1. Local transport is Not allowed in day time and only allowed after 11:00 p.m., in case of Vessels at Ports, there is shortage of time to move rice cargo to ports timely. It is requested to formulate way out to resolve this issue, as rice season is on peak and Members may face huge Demurrage charges of Vessel. 2. Law & Order situation in Karachi city is not satisfactory. Snatching of loaded vehicles are increased. Commissioner Karachi passed necessary instructions to DC-Kemari to coordinate with relevant stakeholders and assured his full cooperation to resolve these issues at the earliest: In the end, Mr. Muhammad Jawed Jillani presented Flower Bouquet and REAP’s Journal to Commissioner Karachi, he also invited him for a luncheon meeting with REAP’s MC Members and Leading Rice Exporters.
