09/04/2024: Trade Development Authority of Pakistan (TDAP) arranged a meeting today regarding Non Compliance in Basmati Rice from Pakistan. The said meeting was chaired by Mr. Sualeh Ahmed Faruqui, Secretary Commerce and attended by Mr. Athar Khokhar, D.G. TDAP, Mr. Allah Ditta Abid, D.G. DPP, Mr. Haseeb Ali Khan, Acting Chairman REAP, Mr. Shahzad Ali Malik (S.I.), Chairman, Sectoral Council on Rice, MC Members of REAP, Ch. Samee Ullah Naeem, Ali Narang, Mr. Amir-ur-Rehman, TDAP, Mr. Adnan Shaikh, Member REAP and Principal Secretary, RRI. During the meeting, the Agenda i.e. Non Compliance in Basmati Rice from Pakistan to EU Countries has been discussed in detail and all the participants gave their valuable input. After listening all, Secretary Commence constituted a Committee comprising of REAP, TDAP & DPP Officials and suggested to have next meeting on 19th April, 2024 in Lahore to finalize to finalize Long terms and short terms solution of this critical issue.
